Apple’s latest flagship handsets, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, have been reportedly experiencing overheating issues since its release last Friday.
Many reports have emerged where users are complaining about overheating issues (even with normal usage), being hot to the touch, and processor slowdowns.
While some have pointed out the new A17 Pro Bionic chipset to be the reason behind the issue, renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has another explanation for the overheating issues.
According to Kuo, the overheating issue on the iPhone 15 Pro series is not connected to TSMC’s first 3nm processor and could be caused by “compromises made in the thermal system design”, which allowed Apple to achieve a lightweight design of the iPhone 15 Pro models.

Kuo notes that the changes Apple made to reduce the heat dissipation area and include a titanium frame have negatively affected the thermal efficiency of iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max devices to dissipate heat.
Apple, for its part, is expected to tackle these thermal issues through software updates, but the improvement may be limited unless the Cupertino giant decides to reduce the processor performance.
If the issue is not addressed properly, Apple may be faced with an unwanted sales decline in the near future.
“Apple is expected to fix this issue with a system update, but unless the processor performance is reduced, the improvement may be limited. If Apple doesn’t properly address this issue, it could be detrimental to shipments of the iPhone 15 Pro series product cycle,” the Apple analyst added.
