Install macOS Sonoma 14 on VMware
Tools to download and install before moving forward:
- VMWare – If you haven’t already installed it.
- Auto Unlocker – Patcher for VMWare to run macOS Sonoma on VMware
1. Extract and Launch Auto Unlocker.
2. Click on Patch to install the patch files for VMware.
3. Then click OK after it gets installed by downloading files from the internet.
3. Now launch VMware and click on Create a New Virtual Machine.
4. Select Installer disc image file and then click browse.
5. Now select the macOS Sonoma 14 ISO file to install on the virtual machine.
6. Then click next to move forward.
7. Select Apple Mac OS X, then choose macOS 14 from the versions and then click next.
8. Give your virtual machine a name, then select a location for your installation. Then click next.
Note – Copy the address as you will need it at a later stage.
9. Select a size for your virtual hard disk on which Sonoma will be installed and then click next.
10. Now click custom hardware.
11. Increase the RAM that you want for the macOS Sonoma to run in the virtual machine and click close to head back.
Make sure to keep it around 50% of your computer so that the entire system doesn’t slow down.
12. Then click finish to complete the virtual machine creation process.
13. Now press Alt + E to open the explorer and past the address of the virtual machine location that we copied in step 9.
Then open macOS Sonoma file using Notepad through the right-click menu.
14. Add the following text at the end and press Ctrl + S to save the changes before closing the file.

15. After that, open the VMware workstation and launch the virtual machine we created earlier.
16. Select your language and click on the arrow to move to the next step.
17. Then select Disk Utility and click Continue.
18. Now select the VMware Virtual SATA hard disk and then click Erase.
19. Write a name for your virtual hard disk and then click Erase.
20. Click Done once you get the success prompt for the hard disk formatting.
21. Now close the disk utility menu through the close button and head back to the setup.
22. Select Install macOS 14 and then click Continue.
23. Now click Continue to start the installation.
24. Then agree to the terms and condition to move forward.
25. Then macOS Sonoma 14 will start installing. It will take anywhere between 15-30 minutes.
26. Once installed, select the country and then click Continue.
27. And finally, create a computer account. Fill in your name, account name and password before clicking on Continue.
You have successfully installed macOS Sonoma 14 on the virtual machine.
