Amazon has quietly rolled out its popular ‘Prime Gaming’ service in India which offers free access to a number of gaming titles and in-game items.
The subscription-based gaming service is available with an Amazon Prime membership for INR 1,499 per year at no additional cost.
For those unaware, Prime Gaming, which has been available in other countries for years, is complimentary to Amazon Prime membership and offers gamers access to a range of mobile, PC, and Mac games as well as in-game loot to play for free at no extra cost. It offers free PC games to Amazon Prime users every month.
The e-commerce giant adds a number of new titles along with in-game loot to the gaming service every month. Prime members can download free games on their Windows PCs via the official website to access them.
“With Prime Gaming (included with your Prime membership) unlock instant access to tons of exclusive content for your favorite games and a rotating collection of PC games…each and every month,” the company describes on the site.
Gaming titles such as Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Quake, Desert Child, Spinch, and Deathloop, among others, are some of the free games currently being offered by Prime Gaming in India for a limited time.
Further, Prime Gaming subscribers can claim extra items such as power-ups, exclusive collectibles, characters, outfits, skins, themes, in-game currency and more across popular mobile games such as League of Legends, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, FIFA 23, Valorant, Call of Duty: Mobile, and more, every month without paying anything additionally.
How To Get Free Games And In-Game Items In Prime Gaming
To access Prime Gaming and claim free games and related bonuses, head over to the official Amazon Prime Gaming website here.
If you have an Amazon Prime subscription, log in using your Amazon account. You will notice an “Activate Prime Gaming” button at the top right corner of the screen. Once you activate the Prime Gaming option on your account, you will be able to access all the free games and in-game items on offer.
However, you may need to download the Amazon Games app on your Windows PC to play certain gaming titles. Also, you may need to connect your Amazon Prime account to your third-party store accounts such as EA Play, Epic Games, Rockstar Games, or Activision to claim some select games and in-game items.
Additionally, some AAA titles such as Red Dead Online, GTA: V, and Battlefield 2042 are not included in the subscription and hence, will need to be purchased separately.
Rishi Alwani, a long-time industry analyst and communications manager at Pune-headquartered gaming upstart SuperGaming said that Prime Gaming can have some “fascinating long-term impact” for PC gaming ecosystem in India.
“It would expose Indian PC gamers with Prime subscriptions to a variety of content they would not necessarily have gravitated towards. By and large, the Indian PC games space is value-driven permeated by either big budget ‘safe’ AAA fare like GTA 5 or free-to-play shooters like Valorant. Prime Gaming brings in a varied, curated selection of genres and titles that many may have not even considered to pick up and play otherwise such as Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons,” Alwani told TechCrunch in a statement.
“Throw in in-game content for popular titles like Modern Warfare 2 and Apex Legends and it’s pretty obvious that Amazon India’s at that phase where it is looking at gaming to retain its burgeoning Prime subscriber base.”
Currently, Amazon Prime membership is available for INR 179 per month, INR 459 for a quarter, and INR 1,499 per year in India. It also has a free 30-day trial for new users.
Besides Prime Gaming, Amazon Prime members also get access to Prime Video, Prime Music, free e-books on Amazon Prime Reading, and free same-day and one-day deliveries on Amazon Shopping.
